President Obama on Wednesday signed a law that makes it a federal crime to assault an individual because of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity.
Sure, Congress had to append it to a defense spending bill, but it’s been passed. About time.

An all-male college in Atlanta, Georgia, has banned the wearing of women’s clothes, makeup, high heels and purses as part of a new crackdown on what the institution calls inappropriate attire.
Okay. This far into the article, I was only mildly annoyed with Morehouse college regulating what students do on campus (not just when they go to class). Then I came to this paragraph:
“We are talking about five students who are living a gay lifestyle that is leading them to dress a way we do not expect in Morehouse men,” he [Dr. William Bynum, vice president for Student Services] said.
They implemented the policy to keep 5 out of 2,700 students from dressing they way they want to? And phrased their justification in such a way as to sound as discriminatory as possible? At a historically black college?
What they hell were they thinking?
